Welcome to Unmapped routes! The posts here aim to provide inspiration for future journeys, evoke memories of past trips, and – perhaps more than anything – offer a brief moment of escape from everyday life.

The focus is on unusual, overlooked and emerging destinations and journeys – the witches’ market in La Paz, for example, or the epic “sumo” ride to the remote Tawang Buddhist monastery in Northeast India.

Unmapped routes also looks at more popular destinations from a fresh angle – providing the stories and history needed to help put the place in context.
